As far as comfort foods go, this classic is high on the list. Not many foods get to be as creamy and melty and delicious mac and cheese as Cooper® & Cheese. And not many can take you back to memories of a favorite meal quite like this, either.

Ingredients

2 cups elbow macaroni or cavatappi pasta noodles

2 tablespoons butter

1 cup milk

15 ounces Cooper® Sharp American (White or Yellow), cubed or shredded (About half the 30oz White loaf)

Salt to taste

Pepper to taste
Directions
Prepare the pasta noodles according to package directions.
While the noodles are boiling, in a large saucepan melt the butter. Pour in the milk, stirring to combine. Once the milk starts to bubble (stir to avoid burning), add in the Cooper® Sharp American a bit at a time. Continue stirring to combine/melt. Salt and Pepper to taste.
Drain the noodles and return them to your noodle pan. Pour the cheese sauce on top. Fold the noodles & cheese sauce together to coat the noodles. Add more pepper to taste.

HOMESTYLE VARIATION:
Follow all steps above, then spoon mixture into a 3-quart casserole dish. Top with breadcrumbs and bake at 350° F for additional 25 to 30 minutes or until brown and bubbly.
